Leaked Star Wars Concept Art Shows Leia as Epic Jedi Samurai

Luke Skywalker might have been the main hero of the Star Wars original trilogy, however, the fate of the galaxy far, far away did not rest on his shoulders alone. In Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, fans learn that Luke isn't the only one with a connection to the Force. Breathing his last in the swamp of Dagobah, Yoda lets his young apprentice that "there is another," Force user, and of course, that is Luke's sister, Leia.

The concept of Jedi Leia was eventually abandoned, though fans finally do get to see Luke's sister training in the ways of the Force in a flashback sequence in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Now, it seems like old concept art for Star Wars have been making the rounds online, giving fans an idea of what Leia would have looked like if Lucasfilm had turned her into a Jedi.

Shared on Inverse, the concept art comes from Star Wars: Battlefront 4, a cancelled Star Wars videogame that would have offered fans a slew of alternate versions of beloved characters.

Concept art and designs for the game have been circulating the internet over the years, and they show ideas for Dark Luke Skywalker, Jedi Maul, and Emperor Vader.

The Jedi version of Leia would have given Luke's twin a strong samurai look – one that we would have loved to see on the big screen.

While it's definitely a shame that Leia never continued training as a Jedi, we understand why Lucasfilm abandoned the idea of training Leia in the ways of the Force. The Resistance needed a leader, and who better than Leia?

The Skywalker saga is available for streaming on Disney+.
