Last month, word came out that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige would be developing a new film for the Star Wars franchise. This week, Marvel announced that the producer had been promoted to a new position in the company, taking on the role of a Chief Creative Officer for the company.

While most Marvel fans celebrated Feige's good fortune, there have been questions about what the Marvel Studios President's new role would mean for his other commitments. Would Feige still be able to focus on the development of the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Would he be able to continue working on the film that the promised for Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away?

According to a report by Screen Rant, the news that Feige was going to develop a Star Wars film sparked intense speculation that the Marvel producer was being groomed by Lucasfilm to replace current president Kathleen Kennedy – a theory which many believed to be true seeing how both producer's contracts with their current companies are set to come to an end in the next few years.

Feige was a big fan of the Star Wars franchise, and fans wanted to see what the producer could do for Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away. After all, he did manage to bring major success to the MCU.

Unfortunately, Feige's new role as the COO of Marvel may be keeping him from heading on to Lucasfilm as its new president. The promotion is a pretty significant one, giving Feige the creative reign not only over Marvel's films but also its different series and comics. That kind of power and responsibility would restrict Feige's freedom to dabble with Star Wars.
