Jonah Hill Holding Out Over The Batman Role Because Of Pay And Character Issues

Earlier this week, word broke out saying that Warner Brothers was currently in discussion with Jonah Hill for a villainous role in Matt Reeve's highly anticipated comic book movie, The Batman.

Though industry sites failed to name the role that Hill was in for, fans couldn't help but speculate that 21 Jump Street and The Wolf of Wall Street star was actually in talks for the Penguin role, or that he was in for the Riddler.

Now, a new report reveals that the reason why Warner Brothers still can't release any official confirmation on the character that Hill is supposed to play is that the actor is holding out on the negotiations. According to a report by Variety, negotiations with Hill is still underway because the actor has issues with the salary he's being offered for the role as well as the identity of the villain that he's set to play in The Batman.

"He's had the offer for over a month," Variety writer Justin Kroll writes, "and besides money being a bargaining point (at one point heard he wanted 10 which is wild since Rob isn't making half that) but also which character he would play, whether it's the Riddler or Penguin."

Right now we're not quite sure whether Warner Brothers would cave in and get Hill at his salary point or whether the studio would try to haggle with the actor's representatives. We'll just have to wait and see whether negotiations really do push through.

Starring The Batman is set for release on June 25, 2021.
