Joker Reaches Another Major Achievement That No Other Film has Done in a Decade

It looks like Joker has just made another major achievement.

Joker has been nothing short of success after its big premiere last month, making waves among critics and excelling at the box office. Not only has the film managed to beat Deadpool as Hollywood's highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time, but it's also expected to cross the $1 billion mark soon, making the gritty character study of the Clown Prince of Crime the newest DC movie to earn that much at the box office market.

Now, a new report by Screen Daily reveals another major achievement for Todd Phillip's movie. According to the site, Joker has managed to top the UK box office for six consecutive weeks now, the first film to do so since James Cameron's Avatar came out in 2009.

Though the science fiction movie eventually spent a total of 10 weeks topping UK Charts, Joker is following closely behind with its win at the UK Box Office.

Joker is certainly doing well for itself. There was a whole lot of controversy surrounding the movie before its release. Not only were some concerned that the comic book movie would inspire audiences to commit violent acts, but others believed that the film would inspire terrorists as well. Not only did the military report that they had found one "credible" report regarding a bomb threat set for the Joker's premiere, but the FBI came in and decided to take to social media to check on Joker posts as well. The New York Police Department even decided to patrol the film's screenings during Joker's big premiere night.
