Joaquin Phoenix Open To Return As Joker

Joker director Todd Phillips might say that his gritty character study of DC's Clown Prince of Crime is meant to be a standalone movie, but it looks like Joaquin Phoenix is willing to return and reprise his role as Arthur Fleck.

Speaking during an appearance on Popcorn with Peter Travers, Phoenix opened up about his critically-acclaimed but controversial comic book movie, telling fans about what they should and shouldn't expect from the upcoming film.

Nearing the end of the interview, Phoenix was given a viewer question asking whether Arthur Fleck was the actor's dream role. It didn't start out that way, but Phoenix admits that he just "can't stop thinking about it (the role)," going on to reveal that he and Phillips have already discussed what else they "might be able to do" with the character.

Right now, the actor isn't quite sure whether he wants to further explore Joker or not, however, he says that the possibilities seem "endless" even though he hasn't considered sharing a scene with Batman just yet.

This openness to the possibility of returning to the role may excite Joker fans. Phoenix gave a hell of a performance in the film, and everyone's eager to see Arthur Fleck come face to face with an adult Bruce Wayne, one that becomes the Batman. Some have been even hoping that he crosses paths with Robert Pattinson's version of the Dark Knight – the Twilight star being set to play the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeve's highly-anticipated The Batman movie.
