Jar Jar Binks Actor Congratulates Ewan McGregor For His Star Wars Return

Earlier this week, word came out that Ewan McGregor had signed a contract to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Star Wars franchise. Today, the rumors were confirmed by trade news sites like Variety which revealed that Lucasfilm was bringing in McGregor for a new Obi-Wan series on Disney+.

Of course, the news sparked a whole lot of excitement from the Star Wars fanbase. Though there had been rumors that Lucasfilm would release an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie before, these reports eventually died out, leaving fans to wonder what the studio would do with the Jedi Knight.

Now, everyone's eager to see the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series – including Jar Jar Binks actor, Ahmed Best.

Taking to Twitter early this morning, Best decided to congratulate McGregor for his return to the galaxy far, far away.

Check out his post down here:

While Jar Jar Binks wasn't as well-loved by fans as Obi-Wan (in fact most despised the character), it's hard not to remember that the clumsy Gungan and the benevolent Jedi Knight shared more than a few scenes together in George Lucas' prequel trilogy.

Though Lucasfilm hasn't given any details about the series, fans are guessing that the show might take place between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Would that give Jar Jar a bit of room to return to the franchise as well? Let's wait and see.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi series has yet to receive a release date but we'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
