It looks like Warner Brothers isn't just developing Green Lantern for HBO Max. James Wan is working on a brand new Aquaman animated miniseries for Warner Brothers and new reports say that the project has already begun development.
According to a report by The Wrap, Wan has begun working on the promised Aquaman series for HBO. There aren't that many details about the series just yet, but we're hoping that we get to see Aquaman movie star Jason Momoa voice Arthur Curry in the new show. That, or we'll get a few voice cameos from some of the major stars in the DC Extended universe.
Wan is working as an executive producer for the Aquaman series. Mary Harplen-Gras and Victor Courtright are both supposed to serve as the showrunners of the new project. The mini-series is going to air about three episodes on HBO Max and according to the report, each episode will focus on the adventures of DC's King of Atlantis.
Here's the official description of the show:
"The series begins with Aquaman's first day on the job as king of Atlantis and he's got a LOT of catching up to do. Luckily, he has his two royal advisors to back him up – Vulko, the scholar, and Mera, the water controlling warrior-princess," the description reads, "Between dealing with unscrupulous surface dwellers, elder evils from beyond time and his own half-brother who wants to overthrow him, Aquaman is going to have to rise to the challenge and prove to his subjects, and to himself, that he's the right man for the trident!"
Based on the description, it seems like the upcoming Aquaman series is going to have more or less the same beat as the movie that Wan released back in 2018. Let's wait and see how it all turns out.
Aquaman has yet to receive a release date, but we'll update fans as soon as we get word.
