James Gunn Is Ready For Just '1 More' Guardians Of The Galaxy Movie

It looks like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 may very well be the final Guardians movie for James Gunn.

Gunn just recently took to Instagram to share a picture of Marvel Studios' different directors that came together to help with Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie, and a fan just couldn't help but ask the filmmaker how many Guardians of the Galaxy movies he was ready to direct.

Gunn responded to the post with, "1 more."

We can only assume that the director means Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It's the only Guardian movie that the director has left for Marvel – though the director might change his mind someday. There's a lot of love for the space misfits and if Marvel's decided to produce a fourth Thor movie with Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, then why not a fourth feature film for everyone's favorite team of cosmic superheroes?

We can't be sure about a fourth film for the Guardians, though. Right now, Gunn is busy getting ready to work on Warner Brothers' upcoming The Suicide Squad with the production set to begin filming in Atlanta in October. The film is slated to premiere on August 6, 2021. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn't have a release date just yet, but we're pretty sure that Marvel will announce the film's premiere date along with all of the films it has lined up for Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Are you excited to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Would you want a fourth movie? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Phase 4 of the MCU kicks off with Black Widow premiering on May 1, 2020.
