Jack Black Expresses Interest In Playing The Batman’s Penguin

It's been a while since the Penguin made it to the big screen. This year there's been a lot of talk about Penguin appearing in the DC Extended Universe's The Batman and there have been some who are suggesting that School of Rock actor Jack Black might be a good choice for the role.

The Jumanji Welcome To The Jungle Star doesn't think that's an entirely terrible idea either. ET Canada's 2018 interview with the actor has just recently been making the rounds again online, with fans and news sites noting how The House With A Clock on Its Wall star expressing interest in the Penguin role for the DCEU.

In the discussion with ET, Black is asked whether he'd be interested in playing Penguin, and the actor's eyes light up with the possibility, asking back whether there's been talk of him as Penguin.

"Yeah, that would be a role. That would be fun," the actor admitted in the interview with the news site. "I hate to put myself out there and say that, because when I don't get that part, it looks, ‘Oh, Jack tried to get the thing.' I didn't try anything. Just saying maybe that would be good."

Little does Black know that fans are now talking about the possibility of seeing him as Penguin on the big screen. With his acting chops and his facial expressions, we're pretty sure that Black would make a good Penguin, though some fans are betting on Beauty and the Beasts' Josh Gad.

Who do you think would be a good Penguin?

The Batman is set for release on June 25, 2021.
