Infinity War: Robert Downey Jr. Says The Science Bros. Bromance Is Over
It looks like Robert Downey Jr’s over the bromance he shares with Mark Ruffalo. The Iron Man actor recently attended the Avengers: Infinity War Red Carpet Fan Event down in Singapore and during one of the panels at the event (via Comic Book), Downey was asked by Marvel director Joe Russo what it was like getting to work with Benedict Cumberbatch in the first installment in Marvel’s two-part Avengers movie.
"You know what, I hate to say it, I'm sorry Mark Ruffalo," Downey Jr. said. "The Science Bros thing is over. It's now about me and the 'batch."
For those who aren’t entirely familiar with the term, the Science Bros. is a reference to the fan coupling of Bruce Banner and Tony Stark. Fan fiction writers refer to the fictional couple as the science bros because both Bruce and Stark are heavily involved with technology and science.
Though the couple may never exist in Marvel Cinematic Universe canon, Downey Jr. has recently taken to the nickname, using the hashtag #sciencebros on social media. Ruffalo’s also joined the fun, sharing a photo of Downey Jr. kissing his cheek.
However, now that Avengers: Infinity War is on its way, it seems like Downey Jr. has decided to move on, and this time with Cumberbatch. Guess fictional flings don’t really last long.
Avengers: Infinity War premieres April 27.
