Here’s Why Avengers: Endgame Didn’t Show Tony And Pepper’s Wedding

Avengers: Endgame might have given Tony Stark (Anthony Stark) some time to slow down and build a life together with Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) but the film never really featured the couple's wedding.

Speaking in an interview with Backstory Magazine (via Heroic Hollywood), Avengers: Endgame co-writer Christopher Markus explains why the film decided to skip out on the nuptials between Tony and Pepper. According to the screenwriter, the creative team felt like audiences didn't really need to see the wedding between Tony and Pepper, saying that it was more important for the movie to focus on the Stark family dynamic and how the Marvel universe was affected by the Decimation.

"We wanted to see the long term effects. I don't think anybody needed to see the proposal and the wedding and the pregnancy of Pepper Potts," Markus explained, "What we want to see is that family unit as a functioning whole. I want to see the world depleted by the loss [of the snap]. The time jump allowed us to get to the meat of the matter pretty quickly. We couldn't go any further, because then you get into a whole CG makeup situation where you've got to age people. Five years you can do just looking haggard."

We definitely understand why Endgame's writers didn't want to feature the Starks' wedding in Endgame. Sure, it would have certainly been a beautiful moment between the two, but it would have messed up the general tone of the beginning arc of the movie. Endgame was supposed to be dark and bleak after Thanos (Josh Brolin) snapped half of the living population of the Universe into dust. A wedding would have messed with that tone.

Avengers: Endgame is currently available on Digital HD.
