Henry Cavill Shares How Important The Witcher Role is to Him

The Witcher fans might have been uncertain about Netflix's decision to cast Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia in its new live-action adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels, but the British actor is pretty sure about how much he wants the role.

Cavill just recently went on an interview with The Hollywood Reporter to talk about the work that he's put into the new Netflix series, and despite all the doubts fans have over the actor's casting, the DC Extended Universe star seems to be passionate about his role in The Witcher.

Not only does the actor take his training for the role seriously, but he also makes sure that all of his fight scenes are "100 percent me."

"It is very important to me that I continue the character into the action. The character must exist within the action as well as in the dialogue scenes and everything else because so often you see projects and it's all act, act, act, then action beat, then act, act, act. I wanted the story to continue seamlessly all the way throughout," Cavill explained in his discussion with the entertainment news outlet.

According to Cavill, the main reason why he decided to try out for The Witcher was that he's always been a fan of the games in the franchise. The project's lore and the story always drew him in. Cavill's always loved The Witcher games because of the immersive world that it's built. The Superman star's even read all the books.

"t was one of those things that because I grew up with the fantasy genre and I hear Netflix is making a TV show, it was, for me, the exact role I want to go for," Cavill declared, "This is the stuff I live for. I love doing my best to stay faithful to the lore."

Maybe this is going to help fans warm up to Cavill as Geralt of Rivia (along with the fact that he really does look good in the role).

The Witcher premieres on Netflix on December 20, 2019.
