HBO Executives On Whether Or Not The Network Will Make An Arya GOT Sequel

After seeing the series finale of Game of Thrones, fans have been petitioning for an Arya (Maisie Williams) spinoff series. In the final episode of the fantasy epic, "The Iron Throne," Arya finds herself sailing to search for land west of Westores, turning herself into some sort of pirate queen. Fans rally for an Arya spinoff, hoping to see more of the Stark girl's adventures after Game of Thrones.

Unfortunately, it seems like HBO has no plans of making any sort of Game of Thrones sequel series. Speaking in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, HBO programming chief, Casey Bloys, reveals that the network has no intention of making spinoffs set after the events of the fantasy epic.

"Nope, nope, nope," Bloys says if any of the series will be a sequel. "No. Part of it is, I do want this show — this Game of Thrones, Dan and David's show — to be its own thing. I don't want to take characters from this world that they did beautifully and put them off into another world with someone else creating it."

Unfortunately, this tramples down any sort of hope fans have for an Arya spinoff series. HBO wants fans to fall in love with a different story set apart from the events of Game of Thrones. Right now, the network is developing a few potential prequel spinoffs. This includes the prequel being run by Naomi Watts.

Guess we'll just have to deal with the heartbreak now. Maybe George R.R. Martin might indulge us with an Arya novel series. Let's wait and see.
