Game Of Thrones Petition Asking To Remake Season 8 Nabs Half A Million Supporters

It looks like the fan-made petition asking for HBO to undo the eighth season of Game of Thrones is gaining a lot of traction online.

Game of Thrones fans frustrated with the storytelling decisions made in the eighth season of HBO's fantasy epic has rallied around online hoping that a petition might get the network to change the series. The petition which was posted on Change.org started out with 95,000 signatures yesterday. Back then, the goal was to reach 190,000.

Now, the petition has reached well over its goal, gathering more than 550,000 signatures on the site. Hoping to gather more, the petition has extended its goal to reach a million supporters.

"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on," the petition page asks. "This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

While it seems unlikely that HBO might actually take notice and redo the eighth season of Game of Thrones just to appease angry fans, the petition does prove how passionate the fanbase is. Game of Thrones has been a well-celebrated series with a great narrative and strong characters. Now, it feels like the story is being rushed so that David Benioff and D.B. Weiss can move on to another project. Honestly, though, it would have been better if the two took their time with the series instead of squeezing the narrative into two short seasons.

Game of Thrones airs every Sunday at 9 PM ET on HBO.
