Game Of Thrones Fans Create Petition Asking HBO To Remake Season 8

Game of Thrones fans haven't been happy with the last season of the fantasy epic, expressing frustration over the series' last batch of episodes on social media. Not only are fans complaining that the new season feels rushed, but they also feel that major character developments and scenes arrive unearned.

Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), the Mother of Dragons who has been celebrated as the liberator of Essos, has suddenly become Game of Thrones' Mad Queen after being pushed at all sides by the series' storytelling. Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) potentially could have had a strong redemption arc, however, the story forced the Kingslayer to return to King's Landing and save his sister, Cersei (Lena Headey).

Now, disappointed fans have decided to set up a petition on Change.org, asking HBO to undo everything that the showrunners have done in the last batch of episodes in the fantasy epic.

"David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on," the petition page asks. "This series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!"

As of now, more than 95,000 fans have signed the petition asking for more competent writers for the series. The petition's goal is to reach 150,000. At this rate, the petition may very well reach its goal within a few days from now.

While it seems unlikely that HBO would undo the last season of Game of Thrones, we definitely understand fans' frustrations with the series. Benioff and Weiss would have done better if they had taken their time with the series instead of rushing the story by squeezing everything in the last two seasons.

Game of Thrones airs every Sunday at 9 pm ET on HBO.
