Game of Thrones fans were pretty disappointed to find a video littered with old footage in HBO’s post announcing the release month of the popular fantasy epic’s eighth and final season. But now, HBO has a brand new teaser for Game of Thrones and in it, fans get to see the battle between ice and fire spreading across Westeros.

HBO just posted a brand new teaser trailer for Game of Thrones eighth and final season on the network, and unlike the last video that recycled footage from the previous seasons of the series, this new promotional trailer gives fans something new. While the teaser doesn’t offer any new footage from season 8 of the series, it does give fans a CGI animated video showcasing the battle between fire and ice – an obvious play on George R. R. Martin’s books that serve as the show’s inspiration, A Song of Fire and Ice.

Check it out down here:

The cold spreading across half of the map of Westeros, fans get to ice eating up the landscape including the icons for House Stark and House Targaryen. In the other half of the map, fire starts blazing right through the surface, eating up the icon for House Lannister. With the two meeting in the very middle, fans get to see ice and fire clashing together.

It’s a pretty interesting teaser – one that adds to the hype for Game of Thrones final season of HBO. Hopefully, the network will release the full trailer with actual season 8 footage soon.
