Edward Norton Open to Playing Hulk Again for the MCU

It might be hard for Marvel fans to imagine anyone else as the Hulk aside from the mild-mannered Mark Ruffalo but it looks like Edward Norton wants to make his way back to the big screen as Marvel's Bruce Banner.

Last month, the American History X and Fight Club star went on an interview to reveal what kind of character that he would be willing to play if he were ever to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Back then, Norton was ready to play any role that Marvel would offer him, saying that he was open to anything, really.

Now, speaking in an interview with Larry King Now, Norton says that he'd like to try becoming Hulk again, saying that he had a whole lot of fun playing Marvel's angry green man in the 2008 movie, The Incredible Hulk.

"Yeah, why not? I had a lot of fun with it," Norton said during his discussion with king. "I never made a movie like that."

When he was asked by King whether he was "surprised" that Marvel had decided to cast him as Marvel's first Bruce Banner, Norton said that he wasn't at all shocked by the offer.

"I was a good fit for Bruce Banner. So is Mark Ruffalo, he's fantastic," the actor responded.

Back in the early days of the MCU, Marvel fans were surprised that Marvel decided to replace Norton with Ruffalo in Avengers. Sure, The Incredible Hulk wasn't as well-received as Iron Man was, but the movie was still considered a major improvement from the 2003 Hulk movie. Norton was expected to return and reprise his role, however, Marvel released a statement in 2010 that they didn't want the actor in the franchise because they were looking for someone "who embodies the creativity and collaborative spirit of our other talented cast members."

The statement made it pretty clear that there was a falling out between Marvel and Norton, though we can't really be sure why.
