Doctor Strange 2 Director Teases The Arrival Of Namor

Sure, Marvel might have a lot of heroes to choose from, but there's been a lot of fans wondering whether the studio would bring the prince of Atlantis to the big screen following the success of the DC's Aquaman. Though Marvel has yet to confirm Namor's arrival, a tweet by Doctor Strange helmsman Scott Derrickson just might signal Namor's splash into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Taking to Twitter, Derrickson decided to share a picture of Dr. Strange and Namor taken from the cover of Fear Itself: The Deep#1, a comic written in 2011. Along with the picture was the caption "Are You Experienced?" a clear reference to Jimi Hendrix's 1967 song.

While the tweet has since been deleted by the director, Marvel fans on the social media platform were quick to take note of the post, and the image has since been circulating online.

Could this mean Namor in Doctor Strange 2?

Sure, Namor's film rights were sold to Universal Pictures back in the 1990s, however, they have since returned to Disney and Marvel Studios. Seeing Aquaman's (Jason Momoa) success, there's no reason why Marvel should keep Namor in the sidelines any longer.

For those who aren't familiar with the character, the Sub-Mariner is Marvel's ruler of Atlantis. The child of a sea captain and an Atlantean princess, Namor has both been a hero and a villain in Marvel comics. The character was one of Marvel's first heroes during the golden age of comics, debuting in early 1939.

Could Namor really be making his way to the MCU? Let's wait and see.

Marvel's next film, Avengers: Endgame, premieres April 26, 2019.
