Disney’s Legal Terms For #MayTheFourth Has Star Wars Fans Freaking Out

Disney has always been protective of the different film properties that it owns. Now that the House of Mouse is going to feature all nine of the Skywalker saga movies on Disney+ with star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker arriving on the streaming platform on May the Fourth, Disney has been busy promoting Episode IX and it looks like the Mickey Mouse House has updated its terms of use of the May 4 hashtag.

Taking to Twitter, Disney decided to share a post talking about using the #MayThe4th hashtag on the social media site. While the message isn't surprising considering the House of Mouse's marketing campaign, the tweet has fans agreeing to "our use of the message and your account name in all media and our terms of use."

The tweet easily became a topic of discussion among Star Wars fans with the followers and legal scholars calling into question Disney's new message about the terms of use that the Houseof Mouse is bringing up with the whole May the Fourth hashtag that is spreading around to campaign for Star Wars Day.

Posting on the social media platform, fans gathered and bashed the Mickey Mouse House of its questionable motives behind the #MayTheFourth hashtag. Fans weren't entirely sure what Disney meant by its message, and the confusion shows on their posts.

Disney was then forced to explain the tweet, sending out a message saying that "The above legal language applies ONLY to replies to this tweet using #MayThe4th and mentioning @DisneyPlus. These replies may appear in something special on May the 4th!"

Unfortunately, the damage had already been done. Guess the House of Mouse really has to be careful with its terms.
