Disney and Fox Currently Met With $1.75 Billion Theme Park Lawsuit

It looks like the deal between Disney and 20th Century Fox may have caused a few problems for both media companies.

According to a new report by ComicBook.com, both the Mickey Mouse House and Fox are currently facing a $1.75 billion lawsuit which may eventually grow in size after both studios pulled the plug on a theme work, angering one Genting Malaysia Berhad. Because of the merger between Disney and Fox, the latter decided to cancel its "Fox World" theme park that was supposed to be built in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia.

Before the merger, the planned theme park was mean to be a "first-class, worldclass" experience themed after the studio's various properties. This includes parks that would have been designed according to Fox's popular franchises like Planet of the Apes and Ice Age.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles by Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP, President Trump's personal team. In the suit, Genting Malaysia Berhad, claims that it Fox gave it only 30 days to open the park, or its deal with the company would become null and void. Of course, considering the size and scale of the park, the deadline was impossible to meet, and Genting asserts that Fox created the deadline as a tactic to help make way for the studio's merger with Disney. According to the Genting, a gaming company like GENM would be no match for a family brand like Disney.

It's going to be interesting how both Disney and Fox will try to respond to this lawsuit and deal with the issue.
