Disney Reportedly Offering New 7 Movie Spider-Man Deal To Sony

The Marvel community was shaken this week when word came out that Sony's Spider-Man deal with Disney had fallen through. Ever since he'd joined the rest of the Avengers in Captain America: Civil War, fans couldn't help but agree that Tom Holland's version of Spider-Man really fit well in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

While it seems like negotiations between the two companies are done and out of reach, a new rumor says that Disney is going to return to offer Sony a new deal to keep Spider-Man in the MCU.

According to TVO in the Lords of the Long Box channel, an insider who has connections in Disney and Marvel says that the Mickey Mouse House has just offered Sony another Spider-Man deal, this time asking for a seven-picture contract using the character's film rights, new Avengers movies, and an appearance at this year's D23 Expo.

The rumor says that Disney is demanding for a 6-picture deal with Holland and an option for a 7th. We've yet to receive any word on Spider-Man 3, but the first three Spider-Man movies are supposed to be categorized under Peter Parker's first trilogy. The second trilogy is reportedly going to focus on Peter's college years and plans for the hero to meet and team-up with mutants like Firestar and Ice Man.

Disney also wants two Avengers entries where Spider-Man will have a larger role, becoming friends with the Fantastic Four's Johnny storm.

According to the deal, Marvel Studios is going to produce and co-finance the Spider-Man related movies with 30% of the full profit – 20% lower than what Disney initially asked from Sony.

Of course, as interesting as this deal might sound (a seven-film contract for Spider-Man sounds absolutely fantastic), we have to remind readers to take this report with a grain of salt. Rumors are rumors until we get official confirmation from either Sony or from Disney.

Let's just cross our fingers and wait and see.

Spider-Man: Far From Home is expected to receive its Digital Release sometime in October this year.
