The Star Wars sequel trilogy may have earned more than 4 billion dollars at the worldwide box office during its release, however, Disney's Star Wars movies have been far from perfect.
Not only has Star Wars: The Last Jedi been considered one of the most divisive films in Star Wars history, but so has Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the third and final entry in Disney's Star Wars sequel trilogy. While so many fans expected the sequel trilogy to leave with a bang, the trilogy ended with a whimper with the release of The Rise of Skywalker.
Now, as fans wait for Lucasfilm to announce its plans for Star Wars now that the Skywalker saga's officially come to an end, new reports have begun circulating online saying that Disney is planning to "save" the Star Wars franchise by paving the way for the return of George Lucas.
According to a new rumor from Overlord DVD, Disney is planning to reset the whole franchise once it manages to "get rid" of Kathleen Kennedy and bring back George Lucas.
The Star Wars leaker says that Disney is planning to revise the Skywalker saga, fixing things in the galaxy far, far away that didn't entirely appeal to the audience.
One example of these revisions is the studio's so-called plan to make adjustments to the franchise.
"Ben still ends up turning to the Dark Side of the Force, but Luke's hands are clean," the Star Wars leak channel explains.
The studio is also thinking of scrapping the entire Disney star Wars sequel trilogy, hoping to begin afresh by creating a new Luke Skywalker movie.
"In addition to this, I am told they are contemplating a new Luke Skywalker movie set ten years after Return of the Jedi set in The Mandalorian timeline," says Doomcock.
It's an interesting thought, however, all of these leaks seem highly unlikely. Disney wouldn't scrap a franchise that it's worked so hard developing just so that it can please a portion of the Star Wars fanbase. It wouldn't make sense for Disney to undo the sequel trilogy.
