Denis Villeneuve’s Dune Movie Might Begin Production Early Next Year

It's been almost a year since Blade Runner 2049's release and now it looks like director Denis Villeneuve might be ready to start working on his next epic science fiction movie, Dune.

The director's little break from Blade Runner 2049 has given Munich and Forrest Gump screenwriter Eric Roth all the time needed to polish his script, and according to Omega Underground, work on the film is going to begin in February next year.

Though the film doesn't have an official release date or a cast list just yet, the publication reports that Villeneuve has already started planning his return to Orgio Film Studios in Budapest, Hungary, the same place where he shot Blade Runner 2049, for the production of Dune.

A February start date for Dune's principal photography might sound a bit too tight considering the fact that there's barely been any casting announcements, however, Villeneuve and his team may have already begun gathering a few names and prepared a few auditions for the role. There's no reason to believe that Villeneuve won't be giving this film his best – after all Villeneuve loves the original 1965 Dune novel by Frank Herbert and has called the Dune film he's working on as "the project of my life."

Dune doesn't have a premiere date just yet, but hopefully it'll come out in the next two years or so.
