Deleted Scene from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Reunites Darth Vader’s Helmet and Kylo Ren

Star Wars: The Force Awakens introduces Star Wars fans to Kylo Ren's (Adam Driver) deep obsession with Darth Vader, showing the wayward son of Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) harboring the melted helmet of his grandfather.

The helmet returns in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and it seems like there was supposed to be a scene calling back to The Force Awakens in the film. Images from a deleted scene in Episode IX have made its way online, and the pictures feature a sequence where Kylo Ren is alone again with Darth Vader's helmet, his hands on the Sith artifact trying to contact his grandfather the same way he did in the first sequel trilogy installment.

Though we don't really know what Kylo Ren is trying to say while he has his hands on top of Vader's helmet, we do know that the new Supreme Leader of the First Order is trying to connect with his grandfather.

This scene is one that we suppose would have taken place before Rey (Daisy Ridley) finds the helmet in The Rise of Skywalker. The Sith artifact is destroyed during Rey's fight with Ren, and the battle reveals Rey's location to the First Order Supreme Leader.

With so many deleted scenes and concept art for the film, we can imagine that J.J. Abrams had a lot of alternative moments for The Rise of Skywalker. Such a shame that none of the deleted scenes are making it to the home release of the movie.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently available on Digital HD. The film is set for release on Blu-Ray, DVD, and 4K UHD on March 31, 2020.
