Dave Filoni And Alan Taylor To Direct Episodes Of Lucasfilm’s New Live-Action Star Wars TV Show

Yesterday, Star Wars fans were treated to some leaked set photos of Jon Favreau's upcoming Star Wars series.

Today, new reports bring more info about the live-action series, saying that Star Wars Rebels and Clone Wars' Dave Filoni along with Game of Thrones' Alan Taylor will be directing a few episodes of Favreau's upcoming Star Wars show.

According to Making Star Wars, five directors are going to participate in the production of the show's very first season. Three of these directors are going to working on two episodes each. This includes Filoni, the showrunner of critically-acclaimed Star Wars animated series, The Clone Wars, and Star Wars Rebels. Alan Taylor is also aboard the project, though we have yet to see how many episodes the filmmaker is to direct.

Though some fans might be unsure of Taylor's inclusion in the series considering the performance of Thor: The Dark World, the director has had great film credentials, earning an Emmy nomination for his work on the Game of Thrones episode, Beyond the Wall. If the experience working on a large-scale fantasy series like Game of Thrones isn't enough, fans also ought to be reminded that Taylor also has a lot experience working with drama, winning an Emmy for an episode on The Sopranos and a nomination for an episode in Mad Men.

Meanwhile, fans have a lot of faith in Filoni. The showrunner has studied under George Lucas himself and has intricate knowledge of Star Wars lore. Sure this might be the director's first foray into live-action work, but there's very little to worry about when it comes to Filoni.

Favreau's Star Wars series has yet to receive a release date. We'll update everyone as soon as we get word.
