Dave Bautista Says Marvel Doesn’t See Any Worth In A Drax Standalone Movie

Dave Bautista's Guardians of the Galaxy character might be an easy fan-favorite with his loveable inability to understand jokes and metaphors, but it seems like Marvel doesn't really have that much faith in the character's ability to hold up his own standalone movie.

Bautista has always been open and vocal about the ongoings at Marvel Studios and after responding to a fan's proposal saying that the Marvel star would make a good Clayface for the DC Extended Universe, the actor decided to share a story about how much he loves superhero characters. So much so, in fact, that he wants his own standalone for Drax. Unfortunately, it seems like Marvel doesn't really see Drax in his own standalone movie.

"Point is I freaking love comic book characters and I want a stand-alone," Bautista wrote in his post on Twitter, "@MarvelStudios doesn't see worth in #drax or possibly myself or both but I'm not giving up. I missed out on a DC project because of scheduling conflicts but hopefully, there's other characters & opportunities."

It sounds a bit heartbreaking. Drax is a pretty well-loved character, and we're sure that fans would head out to cinemas to watch the Guardian of the Galaxy go on his own cosmic adventure. Unfortunately, a Drax standalone movie may not be in Marvel's plans right now. The studio's been busy trying to build up the future of the MCU with its Phase 4 and Phase 5 films, and very little Marvel Cosmic Universe films have been announced just yet.

Sure, there's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but it doesn't really seem like Marvel's kicked off the Cosmic Universe just yet. Let's just wait and see.

Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres May 1, 2020.
