DC Comics Decides to Support Comic Book Fund for Retailers in Wake of COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact not only on the entertainment industry but on the comic book market as well. The novel coronavirus lockdown and quarantine have limited comic book sales the past few weeks, and recently, news has been about DC and Marvel Comics limiting their releases during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Now, with retailers suffering from loss of income, Warner Brothers has announced DC Comics joining together with Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group to help out comic book stores.

According to a report by Cosmic Book News, DC Comics and Oni-Lion Forge Publishing Group are supporting the Book Industry Charitable Foundation's new project called the Comic Book United Fund, an initiative to support comic book retailers.

DC Comics will be donating $250,000 to the Comic Book United Fund to help out comic book stores suffering from the novel coronavirus lockdown. Oni-Lion Forge Publishing will be donating $100,00 to the initiative.

That's not all. Comic book groups and individuals will be participating in fund-raising efforts.

"DC Chief Creative Officer and Publisher Jim Lee is auctioning 60 original sketches of DC characters in 60 days on eBay. In addition, a coalition of more than 600 artists, authors, comics creators and other supporters have joined forces to raise money for the Comicbook United Fund and The Binc Foundation through auctions on Twitter at @Creators4Comics," reads the announcement released by Warner Brothers.

While it's terrible to hear how much the comic book industry has been suffering in the midst of the COVID-19 outbreak, we're glad to see the industry coming together to protect comic book stores.
