There might not be much DC news coming along from this year's San Diego Comic-Con, but it looks like DC fans still have something to be happy about from the convention.
According to ComicBook.com, DC just recently announced its plans to release an adaptation of Superman: Red Son. The announcement was made during the panel for Batman Hush at SDCC, and according to DC, the adaptation of Red Son would be the very first DC Universe movie of 2020.
For those who aren't familiar with the title, Superman: Red Son is a three-issue comic book miniseries created by Mark Millar, Dave Johnson, and Killian Plunket that was released way back in 2013.
The comic book series is an Elseworlds title that tries to imagine and alternative universe where the world has to go on and continue a universe where instead of fighting for America and for "truth, justice, and the American Way, after growing up on a far, Kal-El's rocket finds its way into a field somewhere near the USSR back in the 1950s. Soon enough, Kal-El becomes a Soviet hero instead of the American Boyscout that we've always seen him as.
We're not quite sure when Superman: Red Son is going to be a live-action adaptation, but we have a feeling that Warner Brothers is planning a small, animated adaptation of the comics instead.
We wouldn't really mind either way, but the film doesn't seem to align with Warner Brothers plans for the DC Extended Universe.
