Could The Batman Be Considering Pierce Brosnan For Alfred Role?

While there hasn't been that much news about Matt Reeve's The Batman aside from the news that Twilight trilogy star Robert Pattinson is officially playing the Dark Knight in the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie, there's a new rumor going around saying that the production is looking at Pierce Brosnan as Bruce Wayne's mentor and ever-reliable butler, Alfred Pennyworth.

It seems like there's a rumor going around saying that Warner Brothers may be considering James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan for a role as Alfred Pennyworth in the DCEU's The Batman. The rumor began with amateur filmmaker Ryan Unicomb who recently took to Instagram to share a picture of Brosnan with a caption saying that "Pierce has entered the chat party." Not only that, but Unicomb also added an emoji for old man, and a bat symbol – something that DC fans were quick to pick up on.

Brosnan would seem like an interesting choice for The Batman. Not only is the actor at the right age for Alfred's role, but we're sure that the Bond star would be able to do a few action sequences if the film demanded a few stunts from Batman's butler.

DC's also been recently trying to explore the idea of a younger Alfred – take a look at the series Pennyworth.

Of course, while the possibility of seeing the action star take on the role might sound pretty exciting, we would like to remind fans that these are all just rumors. We'd have to wait for confirmation from Warner Brothers before celebrating anything yet.

The Batman is set for release on June 25, 2021.
