Concept Art For Star Wars: The High Republic Teases A Younger Yoda

Star Wars fans got major news today. After months and months of mystery and speculation, Lucasfilm finally revealed the details of Project Luminous which is officially a Star Wars series of books, novels, and comics under the name Star Wars: The High Republic.

Not only did the studio announce details about The High Republic during a press event for Project Luminous, but Lucasfilm also revealed a brand new announcement trailer for the new Star Wars publishing series. Interestingly enough, it seems like a high profile Jedi has been hiding in the trailer for The High Republic.

At the 2:30 mark of the video, Comic Book Review spotted concept art of what seems to be a younger version of Yoda. The trailer shows us a shot of Star Wars artist Ian McKay standing right in front of a poster of Jedi Master Yoda and a board full of sketches. On the fifth and sixth sketch, fans get to see a younger version of the Jedi Master.

Fans shouldn't be so surprised about the idea of seeing a younger version of Yoda in The High Republic. The series takes place 200 years prior to the events of The Phantom Menace. In Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Yoda dies peacefully at the age of 900, his body disappearing as he becomes one with the Force.

Counting the years before that, it would make sense to see a version of Yoda at age 700 or so.

Star Wars: The High Republic kicks off in August 2020.
