There’s a whole lot of excitement building up over Captain Marvel movie and the anticipation for Marvel Studio’s very first female-led comic book movie is starting to show on the film’s advanced ticket sales. Earlier today Fandango announced that Captain Marvel had managed to fly its way to the top 3 spot on the ticketing company’s list of top pre-selling Marvel movies. Carol Danvers herself, Brie Larson, couldn’t be happier.

Taking to Twitter, Larson thanked her fans for buying advanced tickets to Captain Marvel allowing the film to move past Marvel heavyweight movies like Captain America: Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

The only films that managed to top Captain Marvel were Black Panther, Marvel’s first all-black comic book movie, and Avengers: Infinity War, the first installment in Joe and Anthony Russo’s two-part Avengers movie.

“We’re seeing fantastic advance ticket sales for ‘Captain Marvel’ because it’s a historic film for Marvel Studios, one that fans have been waiting to see for a decade,” Fandango executive Erik Davis said in a statement. “As the studio’s first female-driven superhero film, ‘Captain Marvel’ is a benchmark moment for the genre, for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and for star Brie Larson, who will play the most powerful Marvel superhero to date.”

Captain Marvel’s strong advanced pre-ticket sales doesn’t come as a surprise of course. Marvel fans have been looking forward to seeing the strongest Avenger finally make its way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Carol Danvers has always been a fan-favorite character and fans are eager to see her finally make its way to the big screen.

Captain Marvel is set to premiere on March 8, 2019.
