There's a whole lot of excitement over Captain Marvel. The upcoming comic book movie is set to introduce Brie Larson's Carol Danvers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and fans can't wait to see Marvel's strongest Avenger making her way into the franchise. Sure, origin stories in the MCU might come a dime a dozen, but Captain Marvel director Anna Boden promises that the film is going to be unlike any other story that's come before.
Boden just recently spoke with Fandango to help promote her debut film in the MCU, and during her discussion with the site, the filmmaker promised that Carol's origin story would be something entirely new.
"I think one of the really fun things about this movie because it is an origin story, is that it's not your traditional origin story," Boden said. "What's going to be fun and surprising for an audience is going to be uncovering the mystery of how this particular superhero got her powers and became who she is, along with [being] on a journey with this character."
Marvel's had quite many origin movies. Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and Guardians of the Galaxy are just some of the comic book movies that also showcase the origin of Marvel's heroes. Hearing from Boden about how different Captain Marvel is going to be is definitely reassuring.
Meanwhile, in other Captain Marvel news, it looks like Carol Danvers is going to be given a superpower that fans aren't really used to seeing her with – time travel. Samuel L. Jackson's been busy going on interviews to promote Captain Marvel too, and yesterday the Marvel star let slip that Captain Marvel will also be gifted the ability to travel through time.
Could this be how Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) go back through time to undo Thanos' massacre in Avengers: Endgame?
