Captain America Originally Had A Horrible Ending Line In Avengers: Endgame

Avengers: Endgame did a lot for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Not only did Avengers: Endgame serve as the final chapter in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie, but it also served as the culmination of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, closing the chapter for beloved characters like Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr), Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson).

Sitting down and speaking with fans during the 2018 Ace Comic Con (via ComicBook.com), Evans opened up about the ending that Endgame had for Captain America, revealing that the film originally had a last line for the Avenger which didn't really suit him.

Though the actor wouldn't really say what that line was, he did admit that the line was "something really stupid, it was something really dumb. Which I also probably can't give away."

According to the actor, the line was made in response to something that Ant-Man (Paul Rudd) did in the film. It wasn't a particularly strong line, however, it did make Evans laugh.

"Well, you know, it was reshoots, so you're doing these little picks and pops, and it's just little things that they need," Evans said. "It might have been a line to Paul Rudd. He wasn't there, but it was a stupid line. The line wasn't memorable to me [laughs]. The day was more memorable than the line."

It looks like we may never get to hear the line at all – though we're kind of hoping to see it on the small screen when Avengers: Endgame makes its home release.

Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in cinemas.
