Like many other major events, Star Wars Celebration 2020 was canceled after the novel coronavirus started spreading across the globe and turned into a pandemic that forced nations to go under lockdown.
The organizers behind this year's Star Wars Celebration announced the cancellation during the middle of June, saying that they were going to move the date to 2022 to protect the health and safety of the events attendees, exhibitors, guests, staff, and fans.
While Star Wars fans have been taking everything in stride seeing how the pandemic has canceled other major events and shut down the production of upcoming film and television projects, a new report reveals that Lucasfilm was planning to reveal a ton of exciting news at the canceled Star Wars Celebration 2020.
Posting on Twitter, the host of Kessel Run Transmissions, Corey Van Dyke, laments the cancellation of Star Wars Celebration this year. According to Dyke, the event would have been the host of quite a number of major Star Wars news.
"Star Wars Celebration Anaheim would have been insane for news. There was going to be a TON of announcements," the Star Wars news reporter wrote in his post.
Of course, that doesn't necessarily mean that Lucasfilm won't be making any major announcements this year. This week, the studio announced the development of a brand new Star Wars animated series, The Bad Batch. A spinoff of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the new series is set to follow the story of the elite and experimental clone troopers, The Bad Batch.
According to Dyke, fans can expect more news from Lucasfilm next month – though he doesn't really go into detail about what the news might be.
Let's cross our fingers that it's about a new Star Wars movie.
