Bryan Singer To Remain As Director Of Red Sonja Despite The New Sexual Assault Allegations

Bryan Singer might be facing new sexual assault allegations but it looks like the director is still attached to helm Millennium Film's upcoming Red Sonja movie.

The Hollywood Reporter has the newest update on the sword and sorcery film , and according to the entertainment news publication, Avi Lerner, CEO of Millennium Films, has just responded to their query whether the studio would keep Singer as the director of Red Sonja despite the many sexual allegations made against him.

Issuing a statement regarding the matter, Lerner says that Millennium Films is still set to produce Red Sonja with Singer as the helmsman explaining that they just couldn't by-pass the supposed success that Singer brought Fox with its Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhaposdy.

According to Lerner, there's a difference between what seems to be "agenda-driven fake news" and the "reality" behind Singer's situation.

"I continue to be in development for Red Sonja and Bryan Singer continues to be attached. The over $800 million Bohemian Rhapsody has grossed, making it the highest grossing drama in film history, is testament to his remarkable vision and acumen. I know the difference between agenda driven fake news and reality, and I am very comfortable with this decision. In America people are innocent until proven otherwise," the CEO wrote in his statement.

Lerner's continued support might seem like a surprise. The CEO might have forgotten that Singer was fired from Bohemian Rhapsody during the middle of the film's production because he failed to work on set for quite a long period of time.

Then again, fans should note that Lerner as sued together with Millennium Films and Nu Image Entertainment for sexual harassment back in 2017 by one of his former employees. Not only that, but Brooklyn 99 star Terry Crews also revealed that the Millennium Films CEO once threatened him with "trouble" if the celebrity didn't drop his sexual harassment claims made against Adam Venit, a WME agent.

Birds of the same feather certainly flock together.

Red Sonja has yet to receive a release date.
