Black Panther Gets Best Drama Nominations At This Year’s Golden Globes

Comic book movies might hardly get any recognition at the Oscars, but now that Black Panther's on track for this Academy Awards season, it looks like Marvel's first standalone movie for T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) is getting some pretty big awards.

The Golden Globe Nominations have just been announced this morning (via ComicBook.com) and not only has Black Panther been given a nomination, but it also looks like the film's been named for a pretty big category – the Best Drama Award.

Of course, the award isn't Black Panther's just yet. The Marvel Cinematic Universe entry is going up against other films including the biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, BlacKkKlansman, If Beal Street Could Talk, and of course, A Star Is Born.

Not only that, but the film got a few other nods as well, one for Best Original Score which the film is competing for with A Quiet Place, Isle of Dogs, First Man, and Disney's Mary Poppins Returns.

We're all crossing our fingers that Black Panther wins out of all the films that were named for both categories. Black Panther broke a lot of ground for the comic book genre when it premiered earlier this year. Not only was it the first standalone movie for T'Challa, but it was also Marvel's first all-black comic book film.

Black Panther's success proved to Hollywood that viewers yearned for diversity and representation in the films that they watched.

Now Black Panther is out on the Awards track, and everyone's hoping that the film gets some serious recognition.

Black Panther is set to make an appearance in Avengers 4 which premieres on May 3, 2019.
