Birds of Prey Tickets Don’t Seem to be Selling at All

DC's Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) might be the very first comic book movie of the year, however, it seems like the upcoming DC spinoff movie is having a problem selling early tickets.

Cosmic Book News' Matt McGloin just recently wrote a piece about low ticket sales for Birds of Prey, and according to the writer, no one is really purchasing tickets to the highly anticipated DC movie. Tickets to Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) went on sale on Wednesday, and so the writer tried to buy three tickets an hour after they were officially put up on sale for its premiere next week. McGloin thought that he would find the theater to be nearly sold out as it usually is for big blockbuster comic book movies on a Thursday preview night, however, the writer was surprised to find that he had bought the first three tickets in the movie theater.

It might seem like a fluke, however, upon further investigation in the screenings in his area, the writer discovered that IMAX Thursday previews were barely sold. He also checked theatres in New York City and Los Angeles, however, theatres like Times Square Regal only had seven tickets sold. Cinemark in Los Angeles didn't even manage to reach double-digit numbers.

While this isn't really representative of all of the cinemas screening Birds of Prey, we can only wonder why the film's ticket sales seem to be so low. Could DC have had a problem with marketing the film? Let's hope that sales begin kicking in the closer we get to the movie's debut.

Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) is set to premiere on January 25, 2020.
