Avengers: Endgame Star Scarlett Johansson Defends Woody Allen Despite Controversies

It looks like Scarlett Johansson is making another controversial stand, this time publicly defending director Woody Allen, a filmmaker accused of sexually harassing his adoptive daughter, Dylan Farrow, a child who was only 7-years old during the alleged incident.

There weren't any criminal charges filed against Allen after investigations done by the New York Department of Social Services and by the Connecticut State Attorney's office, however, they have remained as one of the biggest scandals in Hollywood, and the accusations have re-emerged in the wake of the Me Too movement.

The Hollywood Reporter recently wrote an in-depth piece about the Avengers: Endgame star and her recent projects. During the entertainment news outlet's interview with the actress, Johansson was asked for her thoughts regarding the allegations made against Allen. For those who aren't familiar with Johansson's filmography, the Marvel star previously starred in Woody Allen films like Vicky Cristina Barcelona and Match Point. Knowing the allegations made against the filmmaker, Johansson was asked whether she would work with Allen again.

"How do I feel about Woody Allen? I love Woody. I believe him, and I would work with him anytime. I see Woody whenever I can, and I have had a lot of conversations with him about it," Johansson told the publication, "I have been very direct with him, and he's very direct with me. He maintains his innocence, and I believe him."

That's a pretty strong stand, one that might get the actress in trouble yet again on social media. For the past few years, Johansson has been finding herself in a string of controversies, sometimes for playing "whitewashed" roles like those in the Ghost in the Shell live-action movie and sometimes for defending her choices saying that she should be free to play whoever she wants to.
