Avengers: Endgame Only A Few More Million Away From Beating Avatar

Sure, Avengers: Endgame might have been the biggest Marvel movie of the year, but there was some uncertainty whether the film could actually beat Avatar as the highest-grossing film of all time. The second entry in Joe and Anthony Russo's two-part Avengers movie failed to push past Avatar during its initial release, and the opening weekend of the rerelease managed to rake in only a few million.

However, it seems like Endgame is finally gaining some serious ground on James Cameron's science-fiction blockbuster. Now, at $2.78 billion at the box office,Endgame is more or less just $6.75 million away from finally beating Avatar's record to become the highest-grossing film of all time.

With so little between them, analysts consider Endgame toppling Avatar an inevitability. With a few more weekends to complete its rerelease, Endgame has all the time in the world to take down the movie.

This is good news for Marvel. Marvel has been trying its very best so that Endgame might become the highest-grossing movie in Hollywood history. Just like Avatar, the Avengers: Infinity War sequel was released a second time in cinemas. Hoping that fans would assist in the rerelease, Marvel decided to tempt the Marvel fanbase by offering a rerelease with seven whole minutes of new footage.

Unfortunately, the extra footage didn't really offer much, just an unfinished deleted scene involving the Hulk and a short end-credits sequence featuring Spider-Man: Far From Home.

Still, it seems like the film is doing pretty well at the box office because Endgame is just a few million away from beating Avatar.

Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in cinemas.
