Ashley Eckstein was Terrible Auditioning for Ahsoka Tano Role

Ahsoka's been the talk of the town the past few days. Last week, the former Padawan of Anakin Skywalker finally made her return in the seventh and final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. She also managed to find a spot in Star Wars: The Mandalorian with new reports saying that Lucasfilm cast Marvel Netflix star Rosario Dawson for the role.

Now, with a new Little Golden Book called I Am A Padawan, Ahsoka Tano voice actress Ashley Eckstein talks about how she ended up becoming the voice behind Snips.

Speaking in an interview with Bleeding Cool to talk about her new book, Eckstein revealed how she couldn't believe how she landed the Ahsoka role. Apparently, Star Wars: The Clone Wars showrunner Dave Filoni wanted an Icelandic accent for Ahsoka, but Eckstein just couldn't get it right.

"I remember asking Dave Filoni, I said, "why me?" I said, "why did you cast me?" And, you know, because my audition was actually pretty terrible when I auditioned for Ahsoka because he wanted somebody with an Icelandic accent and I just couldn't do it," the voice actress revealed.

When she asked why she had gotten the part, Filoni revealed that he found the voice actress to be genuine.

"'I want you to bring your own personality, your own genuine personality to this character,'" Eckstein remembers Filoni saying.

While Ahsoka's narrative is mostly left in the hands of Filoni and his team of writers, we can't deny that Eckstein also helped shape the character of the former Padawan by giving Ahsoka her voice.
