Ant-Man Star Paul Rudd Still Feels Pressure Against Being Marvel’s ‘Weak Link’

The Marvel Cinematic Universe might be filled with great hits and great actors and actresses but that doesn't everything in Marvel Studios is a success. There are weak films and there are less than stellar stars in Marvel Studios film franchise.

Speaking in an interview with Captain America star Chris Evans to discuss the Marvel Cinematic Universe on Variety's Actor on Actor segment, Rudd opens up about some of his insecurities as a Marvel star.

According to the Ant-Man and the Wasp actor, he still feels a lot of "pressure" appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially since he plays a lesser-known character in the comic book movie franchise.

"There's pressure at every single movie you're making in the Marvel world," he told Evans. "You don't want to be the weak link."

Of course, Rudd would have a bit of insecurity playing Scott Lang. Ant-Man isn't one of the main characters in the MCU, and to some Marvel fans, there isn't anything special about the ability to shrink down to the size of an ant.

"A character like Ant-Man, yeah, very few people knew," Rudd said during the interview, "They'd say, ‘Well, what does Ant-Man do?' And I'd say, ‘He can shrink to the size of an ant, but he also retains strength, and he can control ants and talk to ants.' And people would just laugh."

Still, Ant-Man plays an important part in the MCU. Not only does the character add a brand new hero into Marvel's roster, but Ant-Man also helps introduce the quantum realm into the MCU.
