Amazon’s Lord Of The Rings Series Nabs New Cast Member

It looks like Amazon's Lord of the Rings television series is continuing to come into shape.

Collider has the newest update on Amazon's highly anticipated live-action adaptation of JRR Tolkien's classic books, and according to the entertainment news outlet, the Lord of the Rings series has just recently added English actor Maxim Baldry to its roster.

Baldry, an alum of the BBC and HBO series Years and Years, is one of the latest additions to the cast of Amazon's Lord of the Rings. The casting announcement comes after the series decided to tap Black Mirror star Will Poulter and Australian actress Markella Kavenagh for the project.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom director JA Bayona is set to direct the pilot episode of the upcoming streaming fantasy saga, a role which the filmmaker takes as an honor.

"JRR Tolkien created one of the most extraordinary and inspiring stories of all time, and as a lifelong fan it is an honor and a joy to join this amazing team," said Bayona when the news broke. "I can't wait to take audiences around the world to Middle-earth and have them discover the wonders of the Second Age, with a never before seen story."

Bayona is also set to executive the series together with his producing partner, Belén Atienza. 10 Cloverfield Lane's Lindsay Weber, Game of Thrones' Bruce Richmond, Boardwalk Empire's Gene Kelly, are all on board to executive produce the series together with Sharon Tal Yguado. Gennifer Hutchinson, Jason Cahill, and Justin Doble are taking on writer and executive producing roles. The Lord of the Rings is being written by a room of writers led by Patrick McKay and JD Payne.
