This Greek God Will Be Supergirl's New Big Bad

Kevin Sorbo, widely known for his turn as Hercules in the 1990s series, has signed on to plague Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) as her new big bad. Although no details have yet been released on the recurring role that Sorbo will play throughout the second season, just the possibility of seeing the closest thing you can have to an Olympian god match his muscles with the Maid of Steel is an invitation to geek-gasm.

Sorbo is no stranger to televised fantasy and science-fiction. After the end of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, his Capt. Dylan Hunt explored the universe on board the starship Andromeda. He also essayed a minor version of Conan the Barbarian as a stoic, silent Kull the Conqueror in 1999.

In The Hollywood Reporter, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg welcomes the kind of superhero heavy-lifting that Sorbo will bring to the series:

"Since his days as Hercules, Kevin Sorbo has brought such a strong presence to the screen, and we couldn't be more excited to have him join us on Supergirl."

Sorbo's gig on Supergirl is one of the few times he will play a villain, and not a hero. Let's see how he fares when he switches sides.
