The X-Files is Officially Returning For A New Season With 10 Episodes

The revival of the paranormal series The X Files will continue, as Fox just ordered another season with 10 new episodes.

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are set to reprise their roles as FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully for the eleventh season of the franchise. They will continue the story of the revival that premiered earlier this year. It looks like series creator Chris Carter, who will return as Executive Produer this year, was able to work out a deal with Fox. The previous season only had six episodes so it's good to know that they're getting more episodes in the next one.

FBC president David Madden released a statement regarding the return of The X-Files:

"Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators — these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons whyThe X-Fileshas had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide. Chris' creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can't wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter ofThe X-Files."

The production for the new season will begin this year, and will begin during 2017 and 2018.

The latest X-Files premiered in 1993 and ran for 9 Seasons, winning multiple awards during its run.
