The Witcher Movie From The Mummy Producer is Coming in 2017

With Blizzard getting a Warcraft film, Ubisoft getting an Assassin's Creed film, it's no surprise that other videogame companies are starting to jump behind videogame films again.

A full-length film based on Andrzej Sapkowski's The Witcher series is being developed and is slated to arrive in 2017. American film production company and producers of The Mummy series, The Sean Daniel Company, has announced that it will work with Polish company Platige Films on the film.

Platige produced the amazing Witcher 3 trailer called "The Trail" and also created cinematics for Halo 5: Guardians, among other projects.

According to the press release, the producers said the film will star Geralt of Rivia, but won't be a straight adaptation of any of the novels or games. Instead, it will follow the "themes" of the short stories The Witcher and Lesser Evil from Sapkowski's The Last Wishcollection. The film is expected to be the first in a series.
