The Shocker Wields A Familiar Weapon In Promo Art For Spider-Man: Homecoming

Even if Michael Keaton's Vulture is being marketed as the main villain of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the movie will also have appearances from comic villains like Shocker and the Tinkerer. Some promo art has been released for merchandising, and it has the Shocker wielding a familiar weapon.

You see those things on his hands? Those are the same gauntlets that Crossbones was wearing in Captain America: Civil War. In Homecoming, the Vulture is presented as an owner of a clean-up operation who has been scavenging alien (and even Stark) tech and repurposing them to sell in the black market. It looks like the Shocker will be one of his clients, and he'll be using this newfound tech to tangle with the Scarlet Webslinger.

I absolutely love the characterization they're giving classic villains in this movie. Instead of being just a bald guy that can fly, the Vulture is an actual scavenger who picks apart and steals items from every big superhero aftermath. It's also cool how other classic villains are given minor roles instead of being fully blown up like the villains in Amazing Spider-Man 2. I mean, we barely even got to see Rhino, and he was in all of the posters!

A lot of people are very confident with what Marvel Studios has done with Spider-Man, and hopefully Sony will be able to keep sharing the character for several more years.

Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out July 7.
