The Russo Brothers Might Leave The MCU After Avengers 4

Marvel directors Joe and Anthony Russo might have plans of leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe after working on Avengers 4.

During a recent interview with Collider about his upcoming film, Only The Brave, Josh Brolin was bombarded with questions about Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4. Speaking with the publication, the Marvel star seemed to imply that the Russo Brothers actually had plans of exiting from the MCU after working on the second installment in the two-part Avengers movie.

"…Also, I think that they're in a position very openly and raw-ly where they're like, ‘We would never do this again. This is a one-time deal. To put this many successful actors together is such a pain in the ass, but it's been worth it. We're doing two movies. One back to back, and this is it for us. Then we'll go off in another direction,' but this is a very, very, very ambitious project that I think is going to pay off in a big way."

First known for directing and producing episodes in comedy shows, the Russo Brothers joined the MCU after being asked to work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier. After the film became one of the franchise's most critically-acclaimed films, the two came back to work on Captain America: Civil War and then signed up to direct Infinity War and Avengers 4.

Handling the massive size of the two-part Avengers movie must have taken its toll on the brothers and it's pretty reasonable that the two would want to try something else after Avengers 4.

Avengers: Infinity War premieres May 4, 2018, while Avengers 4 hits cinemas May 3, 2019.
