The Russo Brothers Explain Why Avengers 4 Title Won’t Release Until After Infinity War

It looks like Marvel fans hoping that the title reveal of Avengers 4 might serve as the final build-up to Avengers: Infinity War's marketing campaign are all going to end up disappointed.

Speaking in an interview with Empire Magazine (via Digital Spy), Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo both confirmed the fact that the title to Avengers 4 actually is a spoiler for Infinity War.

The confirmation seems to serve as a reminder of what Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige hinted at last year, saying that the studio couldn't release the title just yet because it would spoil the first installment in Marvel's two-part Avengers movie.

Though fans can't be quite sure what this spoiler might mean, it is likely that Avengers 4's title might have something to do with the Infinity Gauntlet. Last year, Guardians of the Galaxy star Zoe Saldana kind of let slip that the film would be named Avengers: Infinity Gauntlet – a knowing spoiler that tells fans that Thanos will get his hands on all the Infinity Stones (which is an inevitability really).

Here's the synopsis for Infinity War:

"Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet -- the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment."

Avengers: Infinity War premieres April 27.
