The Rock Wants Green Lantern Candidate Armie Hammer To Star As Shazam


Given Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's steady rise to Hollywood superstardom, it came as less of a surprise when Warner Bros. announced that the studio would be giving the wrestler-turned-actor his own Black Adam standalone. Because of his reputation, the studio saw it fit to give Johnson his own film after the they released theDC Extended Universe's Shazam!, the first film where Johnson would appear as the lead villain, Black Adam.

However, while Warner Bros. have long since decided on Johnson as the corrupted DC antihero, the studio has yet to cast the role of Shazam. A lot of names have been added into the mix from Liam Hemsworth to Derke Theler however it seems like Johnson has set his eyes on Armie Hammer.

Speaking with We Got This Covered, Johnson pitched in the name of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Lone Ranger star as his bet for the role of Shazam in Warner Bros. 2018 film.

"I'm not even going to tell you his name, I'm just going to say Lone Ranger… I just remember meeting him and walking away going, ‘Man, that guy would look great, I bet, as Shazam.' And by the way, he's one of a handful."

It looks like Warner Bros. really is thinking of having Hammer join in the DCEU family. Aside from being wanted to play Shazam, there have also been numerous rumors that the American actor is being considered to play the growing franchise's Green Lantern. Let's wait and see which part he'll get.

Shazam! is scheduled for release on April 5, 2019. The first DCEU film of the year is Wonder Woman which hits theaters on June 2, 2017.
