The Resistance Can't Stop The Cancellation of Marvel's Poe Dameron Comic

Just when the series started delving into post-The Last Jedi territory, Marvel has announced the end of their Poe Dameron comic. One of the many Star Wars comics launched when Disney gave Marvel the license, the final issue hits stands this September under the pen of writer Charles Soule, who has authored the series since its first issue.

Revealed during the publisher's September 2018 solicitations, it confirmed that this would be the final issue of the series and might even be the last mission for the Black Squadron. The solicitation mentions Leia Organa desperately trying to find allies for The Resistance, so that could provide some clues for Episode IX.

Until recently, the Poe Dameron series had been focused on the pilot's exploits before the events of The Force Awakens. One of the more recent arcs actually detailed what he did while Finn met Rey and Han Solo, which had him discussing what happened with the two heroes. It also teased something big happening with Leia, possibly hinting at her death and leaving Poe in charge of The Resistance.

While the cancellation might make some sad, 31 issues is nothing to be ashamed of, especially with the current climate of Marvel comics where relaunches keep happening. Expect a new series to take its place down the line.
